NKG PACE is open to members of the Black community who are interested in careers in coffee that may include sensory analysis, quality-lab management, Q Grader training, Logistics and other expertise within a green coffee importer. One year of experience in coffee or a sensory-based field is preferred but not required.

Location

Placement locations for the 2024–2025 program year will be Hoboken and Seattle. Light relocation packages are available.

 
 
 

Orientation + Process

Program participants must be able to meet a required commitment of one week of orientation in Hoboken, N.J., and a one-week placement at a sister offices some time during the program (accommodations and travel will be covered).

The top 10 applicants will be interviewed remotely, and the top six finalists will receive home kits to help us assess their sensory abilities. Based on their sensory results, our interviews and the letters of recommendation, two candidates will be selected by mid February 2024.

The application for the May 2024–May 2025 program year is now closed.

Ten semi-finalists will be selected and contacted between Dec. 11 and 15 to schedule an interview. Six finalists will be selected and contacted Jan. 17; each will be mailed a sensory kit and asked to perform a sensory evaluation. The two selected Partners will be notified in late February and expected to begin work at their assigned locations May 6, 2024.
